Dual Receiver Behavior (E.g.: Yaesu FTM-150)

Hi Everyone,

I’m currently using Digirig Mobile (Logic) connected to FTM-6000’s 10-pin data port. As expected, at computer, I can see & control speaker/mic audio device and also a serial port to control de PTT.

Planning to replace my FTM-6000 with FTM-150, a dual receiver radio… What should I expect out of Digirig Mobile when it comes to audio devices and serial port? While receiving, is there a way to know from radio channel is coming from?

Regards,
Anaxi

in the ftm-150 manual there ‘should’ be specs/explanation of the output audio path.

i don’t have that radio myself  but my dual band/dual receive icoms either have speaker connections labeled main band and sub band, or are menu selectable as to which band is presented on the acc port pin OR ‘mixed’.

if ‘mixed’ is the only option, there’s no way for the digirig to know which band it is ‘hearing’.
also, you’ll only be able to PTT the band selected on the radio itself as ‘active’ or ‘main’ depending on the radio terminology. if a radio IS capable of TX on the sub band, it would require a homebrew cable asserting PTT on the ‘sub band tx’ input of the radio. some import HTs have a sub band TX button.
(i’m sure there are CAT enabled radios today that can do it but i’m not familiar)

lastly, if you keep the digirig plugged into the same USB port on the pc, nothing will change as far as descriptions/devices.

the audio device will keep the same ‘name’ and the serial port will keep the same ‘comport #’

good luck

Thank you @webmonkey,

I use a DigiRig Lite with my FTM-150 and the 1200 baud cable https://digirig.net/product/yaesu-ftm-cable/ . Whichever “active” receiver you select is what passes thru the cable. I have not tried any mixing, or the faster 9600 baud cable as of yet, though. The setup is incredibly straightforward and simply worked, using both a laptop with VARA or my android with WoAD.
