Does anyone have the menu settings for an FT 891 that will work with winlink? When i try to use the digital mode settings suggested in the DR 891 setup guide, the transmit is really stuttery, almost like a flickering…nothing will connect
By stutters, do you mean that PTT “chatters” when transmitting? I have experienced this with an Icom IC-746Pro and a DigiRig Lite and Mobile, as well as Masters Communications devices. I thought perhaps that RF interference was causing this but no amount of filtering with chokes would help. I fixed it by reducing the TX audio to the radio (the playback audio level in Windows) to the point where it would stop chattering.
Flickering PTT with DR-891 or Digirig Lite means that you barely tripping PTT by VOX.
If you want to properly engage PTT by VOX you’ll need to send higher level audio payload into Digirig’s right audio channel. If you use a different PTT method, then only send audio to the left channel.

Both of these these ideas sound reasonable. As soon as I get home I will try them. I read a post from a couple years ago that also mentioned this. Thanks to both of you and I will post it it works or doesnt.
