Background: I originally setup WSJT-X directly with no rig control and was able to make contacts so my 1st assumption is that digirig is communicating properly to and from the transceiver. I installed flrig to control and have flrig and wsjt-x communicating. When I hit PTT from flrig it activates the transmit on wsjt-x and vice versa. The problem is that flrig does not activate the transceiver. The only way it transmits is if I select RTS+12v, but then it transmits continually and cannot be turned off. If it makes a difference when I shut down wsjt-x and am running only flrig, flrig still does not activate even tough the PTT button turns yellow on the interface.
When using intermediary software like FlRig, the best option for PTT is via the CAT command, which is the same mechanism as used for other aspects of transceiver control. Unfortunately, IC-706 doesn’t offer a CAT command for PTT so the only option is to use hardware PTT line. With Digirig Mobile that is controlled by PTT.
This method certainly works when configuring FlDigi directly, but I’m not sure if it works when using FlRig with other software like WSJT-X. The best chance at it is configuring PTT by RTS in PTT-Generic section of the settings either on CAT port or separate serial port (can be typed in the port input box if not listed in the dropdown). Again, I don’t have high expectations that this will work over IP connection.
Thanks for the input. I have tried that and it does make the unit transmit, but it is not controlled. It triggers transmit without pushing the PTT button or keying the mic from the radio. It just stays in transmit until I close the program or deselect the rts+12v. Is there something else I may have incorrect that’s not allowing it to key with the button?
