FT-450D: PTT always on in QLog and flrig

I don’t know if this is a Digirig problem or not, probably just me not remembering how to configure serial ports (it’s been decades), but in both my QLog logging software (Linux version) and flrig, every time I connect to my Yaesu FT-450D the radio immediately starts transmitting and only stops when I disconnect from it in either app. WSJT-X is working fine and only transmits when I tell it to, and it’s talking to QLog over multicast. Can someone tell me what the serial port configuration should be for either QLog or flrig?

My actual goal is to get QLog working with the radio, either directly or through flrig (without WSJT-X running) so QLog will detect the radio’s band, frequency and mode when I change them on the radio to speed things up during this weekend’s CQ Worldwide SSB contest instead of me having to manually change those items in QLog whenever I change bands and frequencies and flip between USB and LSB during the contest.

Thanks, 73.

the digirig mobile, and most other ham radio centered sound card interfaces, use the RTS and DTR lines of a serial port to PTT and/or CW KEY the radio.

these lines are, for the most part, unused in this day and age.
just about everything uses software flow control or none at all instead of hardware flow control.

you need to turn hardware flow control off in the problem programs.
they are starting up using flow control on the serial port and that is what is keying up the radio.

good luck

When I tested it today, flrig is working OK but QLog still activates PTT whenever I connect it to my rig via hamlib. If I use flrig as middleware I’m able to get QLog to track the radio’s band frequency and mode which is what I was wanting. So it’s not a Digirig issue (which I didn’t think it was), it’s a bug in QLog for this rig which I’ve reported in github.
