FT-891 with Digirig DR891 and VARA HF

I’m trying to configure VARA HF with my Digirig DR891 and the FT-891. In Vara HF version 4.9.0, there are a couple settings that I’m not sure how to set with the DR891.

  1. Should I select “USB” or “USB Digital” ?

  2. Should the box “Use radio internal soundcard” be ticked ?

  1. This refers to the mode in the transceiver. Either will work as long as you make sure that the bandwidth is fully open (WDH feature as covered in the DR-891 documentation).
  2. I don’t recall seeing this option. Do you mean “internal tuner”? That FT-891 doesn’t have one.

There are lots of tutorials and videos on the subject especially for the popular rig like FT-891. Check them out to see if that helps.
