I purchased the Digirig mobile and the cables to operate Cat control on my FT 857. I also purchased an extra cable to connect to my iPhone and iPad. However, after performing all the settings on the FT 857, I cannot get either the iPad or the phone to trigger the radio into transmit. The only way I seem to be able to use the FT8 program is via the volume on my two devices. The cat control does not seem to work. By the way, the program I am using is iFTx. Any thoughts?
Thanks AA7TS-Don
It is quite uncommon for the mobile apps to support CAT control, especially on the locked down system such as iOS. At a quick glance at the description and screenshots for iFTx I don’t find any signs of CAT support. You may not even be able to use Digirig’s PTT by RTS because that requires the use of COM port which iOS may not allow. The recomended option with mobile platforms is Digirig Lite with its internal implementation of VOX.
You should be able to enjoy full integration including CAT control while using a full-size computers (Windows/Mac/Linux).
Thank you Dennis. You are completely correct. I think if I had read a little more carefully I might have seen that. I can use my phone and pad just be using the volume on them and the vox on the radio. That works great for mobile. Thank you for your time and reply.
