FT920 Cat via Serial

Hi Everyone..

Before I break out the Soldering Iron Can I confirm the Following :

To get the FT920 CAT to work I have to solder the 3 x RS232 Tabs on the underside of the Board to the Center Tabs?..

I don’t see any Solder Links between the Center and CMOS so unless they are a Part of the PCB track I should be Good.

Just Confirming that should be all I need to do ?

Thanks

Rob..

i don’t have an ft920 but i can answer the solder pad question.

there are traces masked over.
so whatever configuration digirig you have, the traces are there and will have to be cut accordingly.

good luck

Rob,
Here’s a video on the subject:

Also please check out this page:

The Yeasu FT920 works well with the RS-232 CAT cable.

I used the Digirig cables for the Yeasu FT-920.

Would you mind explaining what modification you made to the Yeasu FT-920. If you are able to provide some photographs that would be great.

No Modification to the FT920..

I purchased a Serial Cable from Digirig..

https://digirig.net/product/yaesu-din5-cables/

I then added a DB9 Gender Changer to allow the Serial to Connect to the FT-920..

Set the Serial to 4800 Bbps..

This gave me Cat Control

The 5-Pin din should give me the ability to Process the Audio and PTT for the Rig..

Obviously as shown above the Digirig Mobile has the solder tabs configured for rs232.

Thank you for the additional information. I have a Yeasu FT-920 HF radio and the digirig RS-232 model. I am very pleased with the setup. If you are looking to do FT8 and WSPR. I would suggest looking at this reference for the menu settings.
