Hello. I have been having issues with using my G90 with the DigiRig Mobile. Several times, I followed K8MRD’s tutorial on using it with FlRig, and had it working. Then one day I was unable to do so, FlRig was not connecting to the radio (error message from FlRig attached). So, yesterday I tried messing around with FlRig some more to no avail. I then tried using Omni-Rig as a replacement for FlRig. This did work yesterday, but when I went to try it again, it also does not work also with an error (also attached). I have attached images with my settings in both Omni-Rig and FlRig. I have messed around with both settings. I’ve tried using the Icom 756, 1 or 2 stop bits, et al.
I should note, that for Omni-Rig, I am only able to come to the conclusion that “something went wrong” by using WSJTX and the “Test CAT” button. This is also my only use for the DigiRig with the G90, nothing else like logging will be using it.
I think that this is a CAT issue in some form, since I am able to at least receive audio from the G90 and decode FT8. I’ve confirmed the wires are plugged into their respective locations.
Try setting up CAT control with Xiegu’s native blue USB dongle that came with the radio. This will allow you to then focus your troubleshooting on the specific area (software configuration vs hardware).
Well it’s been a minute since I worked with this issue. I toyed with it more this evening and not able to get any further than what I achieved in August. How exactly do I utuilize the blue USB to do CAT control?
Ok, so I was able to get it to exist and be visible in device manager (the Blue USB). There was an issue with the radio transmitting on a fixed interval, but I fixed it with a change to the number of stop bits. Once that was fixed, I wasn’t able to do anything else. It would keep giving me CAT issues, both using OmniRig and directly in WSJTX. It looked like OmniRig may not be staying open after I press OK button (confirmed via looking in task manager and see nothing after I press OK but do beforehand).
All of this leads me to believe it’s a computer or radio issue, since both digirig CAT and blue USB present issues. It is frustrating since it seems that I am able to get audio from the radio and decode it (again, using the digirig) in WSJTX.
Here is the issue I get when attempting “Test CAT” in WSJTX without the use of middleware:
i don’t have much more to offer, you have hit all the high points already.
i use a g90 and an x5105 with a digirig mobile and have with the ‘blue’ cable previously.
i’m solid with a maestro evolve laptop and a samsung s25+ smartphone.
in wsjt-x i would remove the dtr/rts line entries. i think you can blank them but you don’t want the ‘high’.
you can try to update the hamlib version. 2024 should be recent enough but i know there were ups and downs with some of the xiegu entries along the upgrade path.
i don’t use flrig/omnirig middleware
i had terrible luck early on in my mobile endeavors when i was using touchscreen windows laptops. CI-V was always dropping/disconnecting
i’m using the x5105 entry for both xiegu
