I recently released my Graywolf software as open source. Graywolf is easy-to-use APRS digipeater and iGate software for Linux, macOS, and Windows. It does the basics that you can get out of other options like Direwolf, but also has a few features that I think are compelling.
The software contains a high-performance AFSK modem that was ported to Rust from Direwolf’s AFSK code (which was written in C). It’s decoding abilities match Direwolf and exceed many older software approaches. It uses a tiny amount of resources: only 32 megabytes of RAM and roughly 12% of a single Raspberry Pi 5 CPU core to decode AFSK with the Digirig.
I used my Digirig Mobile for development, so Digirig is a first-class supported configuration in Graywolf.
