HELP Digirig mobile automatic TX

Hey guys,

I’m having some trouble with my digirig mobile connected to an ic718 .. once the USB is connected to my computer my radio begins to transmit with no applications open…

I also cannot see any audio devices, this is on both windows and Mac, using multiple usb cables.

I have tried installing the silicon labs driver however nothing has changed.

When checking resistance I have found some power going between solder and the red circle, could this be the problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Edit * checking the pin for PTT shows zero volts when connected to computer with no applications open, the digirig also becomes very hot. I cannot see any solder on RS232

Is this a new unit or the trouble started after some time in use?

I’ve had the unit for a while now, I never used to have any issues with it but when I plugged it in this time and now it’s not working.

Since the same configuration worked previously (for couple years I recon from the revision), we can conclude that there is no issue with the connections solder pads.

There is likely a damage/failure in the UART chip which also supplies power to the USB hub. This would explain no USB devices detected and unit getting hot. I can repair it, but mailing back in forth between US and AU will make it a questionable value.

That’s interesting, I appreciate the offer for repair. But I have just ordered another from your website as I know mailing to America is a bit complicated with Australia’s postal service at the moment with tariffs.
