I have a new too me ic-706, the OG, not the mark2. I have the corect cables and digirig mobile. Works fantastic with JS8CALL and WSJTX. I have full cat control with both programs and see myself on pskreporter.
My jam are the modes in FLDIGI. But i cant get it to work with FLRIG to work, no mater what setting i select the ptt gets triggered and doesn’t stop untill i iether shut of the tranciever or program.
Can fldigi work without flrig? Ive done it in the past with signalink using vox but didnt think it would allow cat control? Ill try updating it. Thanks.
Seams like this is the most stable. Still wont key on the ptt. If i use the hardware ptt sett8ngs it keys up and gets stuck. I havent had any problems with WSJTX
You may have this information already, but when I was chasing down RFI etc. it was news to me as to how the number of wraps greatly affects the frequency response, and that to get meaningful effectiveness a person should try to achieve at least 5k of choking impedance in the bandwidth of interest. In some cases I had to put two chokes in series to get a wide enough and effective bandwidth.
You may find that 9 wraps is just scratching the surface, and may not be capturing the bandwidth you’re seeking. I spent over US$1,000 on ferrites learning my lessons (school tax Dad calls it), and most of them are now sitting un-used in a box
Then I found Jim Brown’s (K9YC) “A Ham’s Guide to RFI, Ferrites, Baluns, and Audio Interfacing” to be an excellent resource on building RF chokes et al, and click here if you want the PDF from his website.
Here’s another great read of his to consider with the previous PDF, “A New Choke Cookbook for the 160–10M Bands”, which you can also get the PDF of by clicking here from his website.
Apologies if this is already known to you, but hopefully it can also help others. Anyone want to buy some like new ferrites?
