Intel NUC 10 15NHN No audio inputs

Trying to interface FT857 to Intel NUC 10 that has no audio connectors on it. Any suggestions for an assembly I can use?

Assembly? Are you asking for which cable set?

the digirig mobile/lite/891 products are usb attached soundcards.

so the ‘audio connectors’ for the computer to the radio are within the digirig product itself.

no headphone/microphone jacks on the computer needed.

yes. I understand that there is a cable assembly that is a “Y” cable. One end goes to computer and other end goes to my Ameritron 811H amplifier.

Looks like I may want this product. I have two applications; one using Intel NUC 10 computer with FT857 and other is old laptop with FT857. I think your suggestion would work for my NUC setup.

You may want to fully describe your setup.

An 811H has no PC interface. Why do you think a Y is needed?

the 811h is a ‘regular’ tube amp right?

if so, the only ‘cable’ would be a keying cable and would be from the radio to the amp to engage/disengage the tx cycle of the amp.

i’m not well versed in the 857 but usually there is a single/separate keying ‘jack’ you would run from radio to amp.

AHA, i googlized the 857 rear panel.

yes, you’ll need a ‘y’ or splitter for the 8 pin mini din in order to access the KEYING pin for the amplifier and also connect to the rx/tx audio pins from the COMPUTER audio.

BUT it looks like that 8 pin mini din is switchable from cat/tuner to linear.
switching to linear amp use causes all the other pins to be something else.
so no rx/tx audio pins while using the 8 pin mini din as a linear connection.

HOWEVER, the DATA jack, standard 6 pin mini din is a standard packet jack would be the way to go for rx/tx audio + ptt

this connection would leave the 8 pin mini din clear for amplifier key up.

An alternative configuration is to connect the CAT/TUN/LIN jack to the amp, set it to LIN, and use the MIC for CAT (menu 59.) This isn’t a common configuration.

You could also Y the DATA jack and use the PTT line instead of the TX GND on the CAT jack. Often, mini-6 Y cables are easier to source. Since the 811H doesn’t have an inhibit output, this could be an easier option.

You could also embed the Digirig into the radio, then you could use the DATA jack PTT direct to the amp with no Y.
