iPad (7th gen) not recognizing digirig

I have a 7th gen iPad, ios 18.7.8 and it does not recognize the digirig.

What model of the Digirig are you connecting? Is the same Digirig recognized by the regular computer?

From the specs it looks like the tablet doesn’t have a USB-C port so I’m assuming you use some sort of OTG adapter in between. What type is it?

Hi Denis..

My iPad has the old style flat Apple charging port . I tried using a USB type A to USB type C adapter with a charging cable but that didn’t work. Then I bought a USB-C to the flat Apple connection and that’s where I am now. It does receive but the transmit audio goes to the speaker, not the Digirig.

I have the Digirig mini and it works fine with my newer iPad so I’m not dead in the water.

I just wanted a backup if the battery died in the primary iPad.

Thanks for the answer.

If the same Digirig works correctly on another tablet or PC then the suspicion falls on the OTG adapter or OS on the tablet under test. Now with the received audio handled correctly we know that the system detected Digirig’s soundcard - this means OTG adapter is doing working at least partially. I would look for some option in the software to route the audio to headset vs internal speaker. In APRSDroid on Android for example, there is a setting for type of audio channel to use: voice, ringtone, etc. - some play through the internal speakers, some through headset (Digirig).
