Js8call wsjtx flrig fldigi + lite OR mobile = no luck

have both a digirig lite and mobile, both cat and non cat cables. i cannot for the life of me get any of the packet radio apps to play nice (if at all) with the digirig/578 under windows or linux

usb a to c, c to c
uart or volt hand types tried
squelch off
speaker on both

both linux and windows see the com port along with audio in and out and they are set up accordingly in the apps.
tried all the baud rates and made sure they corresponded
vox, cat, rts, data bits, stop bits, handshakes

its probably something stupid im missing too. anything to help me get the “light” to ding, or put a boot in my rear would be greatly appreciated.

To be productive the troubleshooting needs to be a methodical progression. For example, if Digirig’s components are detected by the computer, there is no need to try different USB cables - it is clear that the USB connection works. If the radio keys up and you hear your payload on the air with another ratio on the frequency, then your audio and PTT/CAT setting are working. If you hear the traffic on the frequency on your computer (see “listen” checkbox method) then received audio works etc.

Please post the details of the steps you attempted and the results you got.

Recommended initial setup:

  • Windows
  • WS8Call
  • Cable without CAT control
  • PTT by RTS

Good day. I like your approach. I’ll start over with your recommended setup when I have 30 minutes free later today.
