Keying CW with DigiRig on IC-7000

I’m using DigiRig and the correct cable set for IC-7000 (13-pin mini-DIN, CI-V).

Everything else works: monitoring and controlling the radio, audio, digimodes and even PTT. But I haven’t been able to find the correct settings to key CW. As software I have tried WinWarbler and CWType.

Is this a software setting thing or is DigiRig simply unable to key CW? Please help!

with icoms, and most generally, the CW ‘keying’ requires a PTT AND a CW key input.

so, a connection to the CW key jack and PTT.

now, that is the requirements for ‘break in/full break in’ keying

if you can find the menu item for ‘semi break in’ then you can just use the CW key jack.

there isn’t, that i remember, a CI-V command to CW KEY the ic-7000
(i had to use the first method and select the 2 different comport keying circuits in software for HRD or other programs)

NOTE: that is my help on actual CW MODE keying
most of the popular software has MCW or modulated CW as well.
in this case you use SSB mode on the radio and the software sends actual audio tones for dah/dits.

this is used quite often for those with a single comport digital interface such as a digirig. no CW KEY connection required.

good luck

Thank you! Not exactly what I was wishing to learn but very helpful. I’ll look into other solutions.

WinKeyer is a great product and can sit alongside a digirig setup fine.

winkeyer also has good information on rig requirements for computer driver CW

good luck
