KX3 Com Ports - I Have CAT but Can't Transmit in Morse Code

I’ve installed the drivers so I can use my KX3 with Digirig. I am successful in using FT8 and Winlink. However, I have partial success using N3FJP applications.

The CAT portion of the software indeed controls my bands and frequencies as expected. However, I am not able to transmit Morse Code using my Surface Go 2. On my HP laptop I see two Com Ports, standard and enhanced. On my Surface Go I only see one Com Port.

Any help is appreciated.

The only way for the external interface to trigger radio’s CW is by connecting to its CW key socket. This can be done by using Digirig’s PTT switch, but requires a homebrew cable. Let me know if you are interested in building one.

Also can you clarify what you have connected to your HP laptop? What Digirig model and what radio?

Thank you for your response. I had my solution by the time I got your response. Thank you for doing so.

My point of reference is that the CP10X drivers only produce a single com port on the Surface Go, and two on the HP laptops.

Thanks again.

I don’t have this radio, and I’m slow on the uptake. But I want to be prepared if someday I’m in the field and someone with a KX3 asks to borrow my Digirig.

Is your outcome:

  1. I can do CAT control and CW via N3FJP with the Digirig on the HP laptop.
  2. I see two COM ports, but can’t do CAT control and CW via N3FJP with the Digirig on the HP laptop until I build the custom cable.

or something else?

My issue is with the KX3 and the Surface Go 2. Yes, I have CAT control of the KX3 from the Surface Go. The CW part I am researching again. The KX3 is funky in that regard so i must verify my previous comment.
