I’m able to RX and decode but am not able to get wsjtx to pass the cat or ptt and am stumped at this point I’m working on a Elecraft Kx3 and it digirig already set for rs232 I have tried tx with no radio selected as to bypass that cat control that did not work and I have also shorted the pins on the audio cable to force the radio into tx to rule out a bad cable or setting in the radio attached are some pictures that will hopefully help
Josh,
Please check the cable connections to make sure the mic and serial are not swapped:
Also here is the pinout for the cables, you can use a continuity tester to confirm the connections:
Yea that’s how I have the cables but I’ll double check continuity I was able to get the Kx3 to transmit by shorting the trrs plug with tweezers like was shown in the troubleshooting videos
So I tested continuity and everything tests as is should the only place I don’t have continuity is between the two sleeves in the serial cable which should be ground
You can test the hardware PTT by temporarily disabling CAT control. Please set rig dropdown to “NONE” and see if the PTT by RTS passes the test. With that working you can get some QSOs going.
Then we can get back on serial CAT control: You mentioned Digirig is in RS-232 configuration. If you made the modification yourself, please use the loopback test to confirm that the port still works:
I have already tried setting the radio to none and the ptt did not work in my original post there is a photo of the error for radio set to none and attempting ptt I did not do the modification myself I order it from digirig as rs232 I have also tested the board for shorts and bad continuity
Loop back test failed all cords and cables were purchased from digirig
The error in the screenshot is with the rig set to Elecraft. I’m not seeing the screenshot with the error message while the rig is set to NONE. Please share the additional screenshots including one with COM8 listing in the device manager.
Thanks for the additional screenshots. The connections/settings look ok. Let’s see if replacement unit fixes the issue. Arrangements are in email.
Appreciate the help
For anyone looking at this tread in the future o thought my digirig was not working I did all the test tried ptt without rig control that failed did the loop back test that failed attempted to test the switch inside the digirig by shorting the serial cable that test failed everything I tried said it was a bad digirig and it WAS NOT I hooked the same radio and digirig to another computer and it worked flawlessly so I recommend when all else fails try a different computer it works for me still don’t know why but being pressed for time I just went and bought a new laptop hope this helps someone
