I sent Denis a request to produce a run of microphone adapter cables for the Lab 599 TX-500 radio to use US military issue H-250/U or H-189/U handsets. I envisioned using the gx-12 6 pin to U-183/U bulkhead/panel mount connectors so that I don’t have to modify each handset to each individual brand of radio and its unique connector. Modifying a handset is getting way too expensive these days.
I made the request because I have both a good number of these microphones and along with my Lab 599 TX-500 I generally also carry vintage HF/VHF military transceivers such as PRC-515/RU-20, PRC-1319B, PRC-25/77 radios to the top of my ridge or POTA that use the H-250 or H-189 handsets. Every ounce I don’t have to carry is an added bonus at my age.
I made this request because I don’t have the skill set to make these myself.
Anyone else interested in adapter cables that would allow the use of unmodified H-250 or H-189 handsets on the Lab 599 TX-500? If so, please put up a reply here!
