Attempting to get SSTV up and running. Using MMSSTV Ver 1.13A.
Receiving SSTV images without problems.
CAT mode is working. Frequency and mode changes as expected.
Do TX. Unfortunately, for a second, or so, I get the yellow transmit bar and then the yellow bar goes away. By yellow bar I mean the same bar that’s green during receive. I can see the scroll moving thru the image, as if it’s being sent and the XCVR is still in transmit mode.
I’ve checked Output settings, I’ve tried Windows compatibility, MMSSTV has permission to use the mic and speaker. Tried different settings/configurations found from web searching. Still no TX.
I’m using Windows 11, FT-891 settings for SSTV are basically the same as successfully used for FT4/FT8. FT4/FT8 QSOs are successful as I have > 12,000 QSOs. I’m actually making FT8 QSOs as I type this SSTV request for help.
What are the PTT methods available in the software?
DR-891 supports PTT by CAT command, PTT by GPIO3 of the audio codec and PTT by VOX in the right channel.
Since WSJT-X works I configured MMSSTV using WSJT-X settings as a guide.
For WSJT-X, the FT-891 and the Digirig “cube”. I’m using a direct USB connection between the FT-891 and the PC and another USB connection to the Digirig “cube” and then from the Digirig Audio to the FT-891 Audio/Mic input (in the rear of the FT-891).
I had to modify the Mmsstv.ini for my FT-891 and modify the Rx and Tx commands in the Radio Command form as MMSSTV doesn’t know about the FT-891. I used information from the FT-891 CAT Operation Reference Book.
Everything “seems” to work in MMSSTV except for the Yellow transmit bar (meaning nothing is actually being sent).
However, as a test, everything is working fine when I use WSJT-X as I’m making FT8 QSOs as I type this reply.
Are you using Digirig Mobile or Digirig DR-891?
From the way you have your radio cabled it sounds like Digirig Mobile. With this model, the available PTT methods are PTT by CAT command (with direct USB cable to the computer) and PTT by RTS. WSJT-X supports both methods, I’m not sure if MMSSTV supports either. Please share the screenshot of the relevant settings and I’ll make a recommendation.
