Mobile vs Lite - Which one?

I’m thinking about setting up an APRS gateway using a spare Baofeng and a Digirig so I’m thinking about picking up a second Digirig (I already have the O.G. Mobile that I use with my FT-857d).

I know that the Lite is $10 less than the Mobile and doesn’t have CAT control. I don’t need CAT control now, but who knows what my future plans might be. Besides saving $10, is there any advantage to the Lite?

I’ll be using either a Raspberry Pi or a Zima board as the “server.” Not that it matters, but in case anyone is curious.

Considering that Digirig Lite includes a USB cable that’s a $20-ish saving. Besides the price difference Digirig Lite has VOX PTT option which can be useful when software doesn’t support any good PTT methods.

More info here:

Good point about the cable. Not sure if I care about the VOX PTT, I’ll need to do a little research about different software. Is it safe to assume that it’s mostly mobile apps that don’t support normal PTT methods?

Yes, you are not going to have any issue with PTT options on Windows/Mac/Linux.
