Need help with Linux Mint / Xiegu G90 / Digirig audio levels

I am running a Xiegu G90 with a Digirig Mobile, and flrig / WSJT-X on Linux Mint. When transmitting on FT8 at 20 watts, my Xiegu shows 20.3W output and ALC at 027. I have made many FT8 contacts, so everything works, but I want to fine tune it. From what I have read, an ALC level of 025 is too high, and it should be closer to 0. Can anyone provide what settings they are using with a similar setup? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Here are my current settings:

Xiegu G90: Aux In Volume = 8, Aux Out Volume = 2, MIC Gain = 10, Input = Line
Linux Mint (Pulseaudio): Output (Digirig In) = 70%, Input (Digirig Out) = 100%
WSJT-X > Settings > Audio > Input & Output = Mono

You can adjust Digirig’s audio output down from 100% and monitor the ALC level reported by the radio. I don’t expect this to make much difference in the results.

You are correct, adjusting the Digirig output, which is “Input” on my PC from 100% to 0% doesn’t affect the ALC level or transmit power. Adjusting the PC “Output” (Digirig input) does affect the Xiegu TX power and ALC levels. As soon as I lower the output volume to about 35% on the PC, my ALC jumps up to 100. If I increase the output volume on the PC, I can go from 70% all the way to 100% and the ALC doesn’t change. I am new to FT8, but this seems counter-intuitive to me. I thought lowering PC output audio level would help lower the ALC, but it seems to be the opposite. Any ideas what is going on here?

Digirig represents the computer side of audio connection, so Digirig’s output is your computer’s (software’s) output. For additional settings you can adjust line input sensitivity on your G90 via the transceiver menus.

Thanks for the info. I have changed the “Aux In Volume” on the G90 from 15 all the way down to 0, but I can’t seem to get the ALC level any better that about 33.

You can plug in regular headphones into Digirig’s audio socket and monitor the output audio. Confirm that the volume changes when you adjust it in your Linux (alsamixer or whatever software yo use for that).

The G90 ALC indicator is the opposite of Icom and others.
So a 99 would indicate a great audio level into the radio.

90 and above is what i look for on my G90.

You also have the option of adjusting the line in/out on the radio itself.

Good luck
