I feel that I have tried all the troubleshooting steps, but I still don’t seem to be able to audio out of my digirig. I’ve tried multiple devices, USB cables, and multiple sets of headphones. The best I can get is a slight buzzing sound that goes away when TX/Tune stops. In Sounds Control Panel Applet I see the speaker portion of the digirig register a few green bars of audio, but still no sound.
Im pretty sure that it used to work, but I cant pinpoint what may have changed. Even if it did work on one PC (Windows) at one point, I see the same no audio out behavior from different PC’s.
That sounds frustrating. What is your radio? When I was getting started with my HT, I underestimated how much force it took to push the connector all the way into the handset.
Thanks for the suggestion. It doesn’t seem to matter which radio. I checked again with headphones into the digirig audio jack. The connector in all the way inserted.
OK, if you have the same problem when you swap out radios, that points to the Digirig, the cables, or the soundcard application.
Do you agree that the more infomation you share about what you have tried, and which application and radio you would like to use first, the more chance someone here may have a specific recommendation?
Sure.
I’ve tried multiple PC’s (Win 10 and Win11). Multiple USB ports on each of them.
I’ve tried multiple USB C Cables with and without ferrites on them.
I’ve tried with two different Baofeng’s and an Anytone 778
I’ve tried a set of ear buds and a set of Audio Technica head phones
I’ve tried multiple apps.
When connected to the radio(s). Radio from the audio flows into the digirig and into the PC and out of the PC speakers.
No audio from the PC goes out of the digrig.
PC Audio works without the digirig
Next Im going to try a USB trace to see if I can diagnose the cables.
Thanks for that additional information. We can tell you are a resourceful troubleshooter.
Could your issue be described as, “When operating with the Digirig, the VHF/UHF radio’s TX light comes on, but no sound comes out when I monitor the frequency on another radio.”
When I have used HT for APRS and Winlink, I needed a remote antenna. I could not get it to work with the stock antenna. Could the problem be RF interference on TX from the stock antenna?
Thank you for doing a thorough troubleshooting.
If you get green level bars next to Digirig’s playback device listing in the control panel, but no audio on the socket confirmed by plugging the headphones there then we should be looking at repair/exchange of the interface. Please PM or email your order details and I’ll take it from there.
