I have a digirig mobile set up with both Ic718 and ic706iig. I have cat control and audio input on wsjtx but have no PTT at all, it just goes red and both radios don’t transmit. I have tried this on windows , Mac and Linux. I have the drivers installed.
I have also bridged the cable as described in a troubleshooting video and the radio will transmit.
The digirig is brand new and the specific one for Icom. The cables are also from digirig but are not brand new.
I’m using wsjt-X and I’ve tried all of the available options for Ptt, silly question but are the cat control and Ptt ports meant to both be set to the same when using the digirig and the silicone labs driver?
Let’s double check the configuration. Please share the screenshots of the device manager showing Digirig’s COM port and WSJT-X configuration where PTT is configured.
Hmm, the config checks out. On the chance that this is some sort of regressive WSJT-X bug, can you try keying up the radio via VaraFM. It’s not suitable for operating HF rig, but will work for troubleshooting. Your config will look like this:
Unfortunately the auto tune feature didn’t work, the sound is still being played through the radio itself (radios speaker) but not transmitting .
Wsjtx is version 2.7.0-win64
I’m not sure if it’s just coincidence but I have seen a few ic-718’s with the same issue pop up in recent times. Could it have something to do with the driver?
Thank you for the update. Yes, there are about three similar cases with the setup that is known to work before (IC-106/IC-718). I’m also not sure if coincidental, but I have at least one of the Digirigs back to me for retesting. I don’t have these radios, but the PTT switch works the same regardless of the transceiver model, so I’ll be able to use it with what I do have.
You can also contact via the form on the website to arrange an RMA if you wish.
In similar case I just resolved, the R2 lead of the audio socket (PTT line) got dethatched from the pad on PCB. The CI-V configured units came from the same panel so it is possible that other units configured about the same time may have a weaker solder joint too. If you want to diagnose this scenario at home, you can remove the PCB from the enclosure and test PTT while pushing the PTT lead of the audio connector (closest to the edge of the PCB) against the pad.
I just took mine apart and found that the last pad doesn’t appear to be soldered to the board. I don’t have a tip fine enough to get inbetween the to ports and have requested an RMA.
just following up on this, i finally got a cable for my baofeng UV5R to use with this same digirig that i have been having issues with. I tried what you suggested here and this has still resulted in the same issue. No PTT through my baofeng, while trying this i have accidentally pulled the audio port off the PCB and don’t have the correct tools to put it back in place. is it possible to send the digirig back to you for testing as i believe there could be a potential fault in this digirig.
