No PTT on FTM6000R with 9600 Baud Cable

Good morning,
I just purchased a RS232 Digirig along with the 9600 Baud cable to use with my FTM6000R via a Raspberry Pi.

I am unable to get the radio to key up, but I can see that I’m getting audio from the radio if I start Fldigi. I have been using RTS for PTT.

I followed the instructions in this post. The radio did not key up when I shorted R2 and S with a jumper and I’ve found that it didn’t key up. I also connected the radio to another Digirig that I use with a different radio and got the same outcome (again, audio in but no PTT).

The thing I don’t understand about the other forum post is if they’re using the 1200 or 9600 cable so I can test continuity between pins. Is it possible that there’s a setting in the radio that I need to enable to use data modes?

The radio should respond to hardware PTT when pins are shorted.
Can you confirm the continuity from sleeve and ring 2 to pins on MiniDin10 connector?

The pinout of MiniDin10 will be mirrored when viewed from the outside.

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
When I ground the PTT ring on the black wire the radio keys up (this is because of a misunderstanding on my part, I thought I was supposed to test with the green cable).

All of the wires in the cable have continuity.

This brings me to another question though - is RTS the correct method to use? Should I have gone with the logic levels unit instead of RS232?

RTS is a correct PTT method for Digirig Mobile. This works independently from the serial lines configuration (RS-232 vs logic levels etc).

In fldigi configure PTT by RTS under hardware PTT section, not flrig or rigcat sections.

Please share the screenshots of the configuration if you continue having difficulties.

I’m not sure what I was doing wrong but it works now. Thank you for your help.
