I have my Icom IC-706MKIIG connect to a Digirig It will go into PTT on VHF/UHF but will not go into PTT on HF
are you using the 6 pin packet jack or the 13 pin din ?
from the manual:
Item 30 - VSend Sel: Set to “off,” the HSend line on the Acc’y jack will key the radio on all bands; Set to “on” (the default), HSend will key the radio on HF/6, while VSend will key it on V/UHF bands. “Off” is useful if you will key the radio from a computer interface for all bands. “On” is useful of you will key the radio with a computer on HF, but with an external TNC for V/UHF. You’ll need to study the book and do some fancy wiring on the 13-pin DIN plug…
the 6 pin packet jack ‘won’t key up’ on HF.
you have to use the 13 pin din and set the menu item if using a homebrew.
(the digirig store cable has hsend and vsend already tied together)
NOW, in theory, if you are using the packet jack, you can leave the menu item on default, take your 13 pin din plug with wires that came with the radio and tie the hsend and vsend wires together.
this will cause the ground condition, upon ptt, on the vsend line to apply to the hsend line at the 13 pin din jack
just to cover a few more points:
make sure your hf frequency in ‘in bounds’ and not split out of bounds or CW mode.
good luck
