Not a DIGIRIG issue -- Does anyone have a way to get DM70 to actually decode

I know I must be the slowest learner using a radio. Thanks to the support of the DIGIRIG group, I have complete control of my 703.

I simply cannot id and decode a signal using dm780 or fldigi.

Could someone send me a screen capture of a successful qso using dm780? Any mode , with the waterfall included.

Thank you in advance.

in another thread, i think i saw you posted that you tuned to 14.074 for ft8?

my copy of hamradio deluxe doesn’t support ft8
granted i’m using the last free version so i’m unsure whether dm780 support the jt modes or not.
:frowning:

i use wsjt-x for ft8 and other ‘jt’ modes.
it’s another hoop to jump through to get those qso into hrd logbook.
:slight_smile:

so, can you tell me;

are you wanting to work ft8? or are you wanting psk31 or something else?

Thanks for the message.

PSK31 or RTTY is enough for starters.

I think I get one working, I could expand later.

https://www.george-smart.co.uk/radio/digital_modes_waterfall/

that page has some examples of waterfalls of different modes.

definitely will help if you can ‘see’ a signal on the screen

and of course, you’ll need to tune the radio to where each ‘mode’ hangs out.
14.074 is ft8 so vfo ‘down’ to .070 for psk

psk activity is down quite a bit since the jt modes.
psk is still there though so google psk31 frequencies, to get some places to look for it.

don’t forget to set the mode you want in dm780 as well.
on my screen, in dm780, on the ‘main typing your message pane’;
next to the diskette icon is the mode currently selected, click that to select whichever mode you want.
down toward the bottom, AFC, should be turned on.
that way the decoder will follow any minor frequency shift.

lastly, way up to, there is a ‘super sweeper’ menu option, click that, then display.
that should open a windows that decodes every conversation within the radio passband all at once.

i hope this will help some.

Much appreciate the help.
