Ouput Audio - RPI

I am using DigiRig with a RPI connected to a Yeasu VHF rig used for APRS digi service.

All is ok except I’m having a hell of a time setting the output audio. Without the use or an oscilloscope, has anybody stumbled into a quick-n-dirty way to set this properly? I’ve been adjusting the audio out level on the radio and I can hear the changes (on another radio) but I have nothing with which to compare it.

Try this utility for setting soundcard levels: Audio/Alsamixer - Ubuntu Wiki
Start low and increment until things start to work.
