Problem audio level whith Yaesu FTM150E + DigiRig RS232 and VARA FM on Windows 11

Hi,

I use Yaesu FTM150E + DigiRig Mobile RS232 (on data port 9600) and VARA FM on Windows 11

I can’t seem to get the audio level right when receiving. When I’m listening on an free frequency (just QRM), even when I set the Windows 11 input level to the minimum, the signal on the VU meter stays in the red zone. However, when there is a carrier and an audio signal (I use a portable radio FT65 to generate a fixed DTMF tone to transmit on the FT150’s listening frequency), the level drops into the green zone, and I can even adjust it by changing the input level. With only the carrier generated by the FT65, the level drops to zero (in the yellow zone) within two or three seconds.

Why is this happening? What should I check on the PC side?

Thank you

sounds like AGC is ‘on’ in the audio setup of the windows pc.
