PTT Not Triggering Icom ID-4100

Hello,

I’m using a Digirig Lite with Windows 11 and Winlink. I am also using the Digirig cable to connect to the 4100 mic jack and speaker output. When I attempt to transmit, the red PPT led activates on the Digirig Lite, but the PTT does not trigger on the 4100. I can receive and decode packets without a problem.

This same Digirig Lite works fine using the appropriate cable with my FTM-500.

I followed the set up notes for the Digirig and 4100 on the Delaware County Ares site. I’ve also attempted to adjust the PC speaker output to different levels without success.

Any ideas or next steps?

Thanks
Eric

Eric, you can confirm that the cable correctly connects PTT lines by simulating it as shown here:

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I followed the WSJIT PTT test instructions and received an error as shown below:

I couldn’t get the radio to PTT by shorting the sleeve with the first ring either.

What’s confusing to me is that these two tests failed on my FTM-500 also, but this setup is working for me.

So I opened up SoundModem and ran the same type of PTT test. The FTM-500 transmitted when clicking on the Test button on the Ext Settings form. The ID-4100 did not transmit (the red ppt led lit on the digirig lite both times).

PTT by RTS in WSJT-X is not going to work for Digirig Lite, because it doesn’t have a COM port, but simulated PTT by shorting the pins should work with every compatible cable.

You can check the continuity of the transceiver cable you are using against the schematic posted in the product page.

Ok, I checked the cable with the multimeter and R2 to pin 4 on the RJ-45 cable does NOT show continuity.

Is there connectivity from R2 to any other pin on RJ-45. Trying to figure out if it’s wrong cable model or failed cable. In either case, please PM me for exchange arrangements.

Yes, there was connectivity on the “rig_afin” to the 6 pin. I will PM you.

Thanks
