I recently purchased a Digirig Mobile and a DigiRig Lite with the cables to attach to my two laptops and HT’s. When I use the DigiRig Lite I have no issues at all utilizing Vara FM P2P. However, my DigiRig Mobile will not trigger the PTT when trying to transmit. I have rotated between two computers, multiple cables and four radios (Baofeng and Vertex VX-150) and the common failure point is the DigiRig Mobile. In all cases the PTT does not trigger. Is there something that needs to be done differently for the Mobile vs the Lite or do I have a defective unit?
yes, the ‘mobile’ uses RTS or CAT/CI-V remote control command for PTT
the ‘lite’ uses vox (its own internal vox not radio) or GPIO for PTT
(gpio is synonymous with ‘RA Board’ and CM108 as far as ham software ptt triggering is concerned)
so for vara fm you will goto the vara application window and select settings, then ptt, then com (or cat, but we’ll do com since just a few vhf/uhf do cat), then correct comport number, then RTS.
that will tell vara-fm to toggle the RTS line on the digirig MOBILE comport for PTT trigger.
good luck

I appreciate your help. I went back and found that if I used Com 5 on the PTT setting that the PTT does trigger but now it does not turn off. It stays stuck in transmit. I’ve tried adjusting the RTS and DTR and combined. I’ve also tried VOX but the radio will not release transmit until disconnected and turned off. Also, on the computer I get a message that the ‘Last com port connected has malfunctioned and the computer will no longer recognize the device. I’m getting the same with both types of hand helds.
Thanks,

ok.
radio getting stuck PTT is usually rfi in the chain from pc to audio interface.
re orient the cables/pc so they are as far away from the transmitter/antenna as possible.
turn down the rf power on the radio itself for a quick test.
ignore DTR, that pin/line isn’t brought out and will have no effect.
make sure you don’t have RTS/DTR enable in the RIG CONTROL section of any software.
only enable RTS in the PTT section.

I had success with my Vertex radio! No luck with the
Baofengs but I can live with that.
Thank you so much for your help.
