Request: Cables for newly released Lab599 TX-500MP

Hi

Lab599 finally released the TX-500MP
Kind of a man pack style TX-500.

It hast GX-16 plugs instead of GX-12 an a slightly different pin layout.

Would be great if cables would be available. I guess @OH8STN has a need for cables too

Thank you for heads up.
An interesting decision on Lab599’s part to break compatibility with existing cables.
I’ll keep an eye on the availability of these transceivers. If there are enough of them in the field then I’ll commit to a new cable set.

I guess they changed the jacks because of the new layout. All two jacks on the same side of the radio. If such cables will go to production, it would be nice to have a 3.5mm jack for speaker too. See the attached pin layout of the TX-500MP.

The TX-500 MP is now available. I ordered one last night and there were a few people on Facebook that have theirs already.

I really want to see the cables for the 500MP.
I use this Radio for about 2 months now. Really like it. It’s a commercial Radio and using it for HamRadio use is sometimes a little tricky

My TX-500 MP is on order. I haven’t looked at the battery manual yet but one thing that I’m curious about is being able to use external 12VDC power while using digital mode.

You can power it on one of the top connectors or you can power it thru the BP-550 Batter using USB C PD.
Both are straight forward.

Any updates on a cable variant to support MP version ?

If im not mistaken, you can connect a speaker via 3.5mm jack that is located on the handheld speaker/mic, there is a hidden port on the side of it.

Thank you for checking in. Currently, there is no timeline for this cable.
I’ll post the update here if any plans for it take shape.

Sign me up please. Would love to be able to get this radio doing ft8, Js8call, and the rest. The built in tuner, the battery on the back makes it really cool to use.

I’ll be working on cable prototype soon. Will post the updates here.
Please voice your preferences on the length of the cable?
Should it be the standard Digirig coiled cables (see TX-500) or shorter/longer variants?

Coiled would be great, less wire mess. I would likely use Digirig Lite as VOX functionality is handy

What are the thoughts on DC input via Data port while interface cable is connected?
This increases complexity and cost, but may be justified.

[EDIT]: in the above picture GX16-12 should be GX16-9. Updated drawing later in the thread.

That would be usefull.

I can live with any cable length.
Personally I would prefer 30-40cm (around 1feet I think)
Non coiled cables preferred. A coiled cable uses a lot of strengt to the Radio and pulls it over when fully extended.

Just my 2 cents

My 2cents: no need to power the Radio thru the digirig cables.

But, a speaker connector would be great to monitor the signals. There is no built in Speaker in the Radio. And the Mic/speaker port is used by the Radio.

How would you power the radio from external battery to get full output power if there is no inline power jack ?

Thought about it a second time.

Non coiled cable 15cm (half a feet?)
Then one can attach the digirig with a rubber band to the radio and then a USB cable for ones need

The 500MP can use full 10 watts with the BP-550 Powerpack, and the Powerpack can be charged with USB-C (PD) or solar charge ist with a 5,5x2,5 barrel connector
