Request: Cables for newly released Lab599 TX-500MP

On the subject of Lab599 TX-500MP: Gaston (The Tech Prepper) shares his audio setup tips in his new video:

Seems your sold out already please put me on the list for the next run. I was checking the regular website daily just not the forums.

Yes, for now. I’ll post the update here when more kits available. Thank you for your patience.

I vote short and combined.

Have you tried coiled and combined?

That’s a possibility, but I don’t expect this position to have enough demand to justify multiple variants at the launch. I’ll have to decide on a single form factor for the first scale production batch and later adjust as needed.

Ok, here’s the poll then, pick one option:

  • Separate Coiled
  • Combined Coiled
  • Combined Short

Short combined!

The cables are confirmed in field testing thanks to KT1RUN and WN7D. Please stand by for the availability announcement of the production batch of (likely short combined) TX-500MP cables.

Just so I know what to look for, when these cables become available, will it be a separate listing for TX500mp or a sub listing for the TX500 cables? I monitor this website regularly but knowing what to look for will make sure I don’t miss the listing.

In Digirig store, the new cable will become a variant of TX500 listing. You’ll be able to choose between Coiled long TX-500 cable and Short combined TX-500MP cable using a dropdown box. Please stay tuned for general availability announcement here and later in the mailing list.

Great. How do we sign up for the mailing list. Sorry for all the questions.

Yeah, I saw that release too. The TX-500MP looks pretty solid, and the move to GX-16 plugs makes sense, though it does mean the old cables won’t fit. I’m also hoping some compatible control cables come out soon because making custom ones isn’t always easy. Maybe once more people get their hands on it, we’ll start seeing some good third-party options or updates from Lab599 directly.

Hi all,
The cable is now in stock:

Is it possible to power the radio from external lifepo4 battery while the new cables are connected ? Previously you mentioned having a barrel plug on the connector which seems to be missing now.

The DC tail idea got scrapped. In a typical use case, the radio is used with the internal battery.

Dont you get reduced power on internal battery ?
Hence the whole point of using external battery via barrel connector

Possibly, I don’t own this radio and didn’t look into that, but there wasn’t enough interest from the operators in a DC connector combined with cable for digital modes. I’ll consider adding it if the sentiment changes.

Hi

You get full 10 watts with the internal batteries
