Software for analog audio transmit

Hi all, first post here and I may have made a mistake.

I have a Kenwood TS-2000 and I’ve connected my Digirig to it via both the ACC2 port and the DB9 serial port. ARCP-2000 is working fine so I know I can talk to the TS-2000 over serial.

What I would like to do is use my computer’s microphone as the TS-2000’s mic. That’s it, no digital modes or anything.

Is this possible?

I suspect that I need software that will tell the Digirig to PTT on pin 9 of the ACC2 port but (quite a lot) of Googling hasn’t turned up any options.

If I hit send on the TS-2000 itself (or through ARCP-2000) then it transmits but it is still using the front mic not the ACC2 port.

Any help would be most welcome, thanks

You can patch the audio from your computer’s mic to Digirig’s output device using “listen” feature in your mic’s properties inside the control panel.

You’ll also need to find the way to key up the radio via the PTT signal in the accessory port. For that you’ll probably need to make a “Y” splitter so you can connect a physical PTT pedal/switch to the same accessory port on the transceiver that Digirig is using.

Thanks for replying K0TX,

I didn’t know about the listen feature; I’ll set that up when I’m back in my shack. Which brings me nicely to the problem I’m trying solve:

I don’t have easy access to my shack any more so I am trying to set up a computer that I can remote into (using TeamViewer or similar) to control my radio.

I’ll experiment with making up a Y splitter type cable so I can at least confirm that it is PTT on the ACC2 port that’s the problem. But - this is where I might have made the mistake - it needs to be something that can be completely software controlled.

Before I start hooking up a Pico controlled relay over UART; I noticed the Digirig analogue cable has a PTT contact that (I assume) is correctly connected in the DIN13 that plugs into the ACC2 port.

That makes me think the Digirig is already capable of driving the PTT and that I only need a software solution. It’s also entirely possible everything on the Digirig side is working perfectly and there’s a setting on the TS-2000 I need to enable the ACC2 mic.

Cheers, Andrew

Yes, you can use Digirig to trigger the PTT. To test that just use one of the apps that support PTT by RTS for example FlDigi or WSJT-X.

You can setup the digi mode software like wsjt and use vnc to remote op.
Then u can close wsjt and start rcforb server.
Then u can use rcforb client on phone or remote pc for phone modes. (voice) freq and mode control too.
Just the digirig needed.

Good luck

Thank you gents.

It sounds like I should be able to do what I want to do. I’ve installed WSJT-X and whilst it’s definitely talking to the TS-2000 I haven’t managed to get a transmission going yet. It was pretty disrupted day of trying so when I get some proper time I’ll go through the various tutorials.

It doesn’t help that I’ve never used any digital modes before so I’ve got a bunch of learning to do there too.

Just for interests sake the remote desktop software I’m using are Sunshine and Moonlight. They’re really for game streaming but work very well as a remote desktop setup also.
