Using Digirig with Soundmodem, works great. However, when retrieving messages from my ARES BBS it stalls or times out when downloading large messages. Works OK for short messages. Is there maybe a setting in the Soundmodem ini file?

Some radios have TX timeout to prevent overheating. I’d look at that first.
Good thought, but turns out not the issue as I increased the TOT. It works fine, but stops halfway on a long email I have waiting to download, but shorter ones works fine…hmm, must be a setting somewhere, either in soundmodem or my radio or Outpost.
