New to this. Just got and the radio set up. I have an FT-891 connected to the computer using a DigiRig DR-891.
When my FT891 transmits, the level graph in the lower left corner shows nothing but an arrow, there is no colored line extending upward. Normal? Or am I transmitting just an unmodulated upper sideband transmission?
Is this in the WSJT-X window? If so, I only pay attention to that to set the background level and to see an increase during RX decode. Nothing to do with TX.
Something must be happening… I found a web page where you can see your call sign being received on FT8… Frankly I was a bit shocked how far it was going on 30W (limitation of my auto tuner). So that must be going out. I just wasn’t getting any response from the stations I attempted to contact, and it wasn’t stepping through the message macros like it did before. I sure appreciate the Elmering. I tested through Tech, General and Extra classes 1 year between each, but am still an “uncured ham”, as I put it.

No matter what level of experience and stability of station, the question, “Is my signal getting out?” never goes away. Thanks for reporting back with your progress! No need to apologize.
PSK Reporter, yes, that is the website. Thank you for the others links, and thank you for the assistance. Our club has a digital group that used to meet, but may be looking for a new location the last I heard. I will have to inquire on one of our weekly nets as to when & where they are meeting, if they are.
