Transmit problem FT-897D

i have a digirig mobile I’m connecting to my ft-897d. when i connect the audio cable to the digirig it automatically puts the radio in transmit mode. If I unplug it stops. I have disconnected the auto tuner with no effect.

Does it matter if Digirig is plugged into the computer or not?
What is the operation system and software that you are running?

I did a factory reset on the radio but it still occurs. It only happens when i plug in the computer and launch iON2G. The radio goes into transmit and the program gives me an error"sERIAL DEVICE HAS STOPPED WORKING"

Let’s look at the software settings pertaining to the serial port.
The hardware flow control functions (RTS/CTS) need to be disabled.

DENIS,
software settings are correct, and flow control functions are disabled. However what I did find was that if I unplug the serial port connection to the digirig and plug it back in a few times it then works. So I’m not sure if
it a bad cable or digirig.

Thank you for the additional info.
Not sure what to make of your observation. There are no PTT control lines in the serial port cable. Are both your cables and Digirig connectors color coded (green/black)?

You can confirm the cables by checking the continuity against the schematic published in the product page.

DENIS
I’m confused as well. the plug is green, the serial port is green, i’m not going to do the manufacturers quality control on cable, I’ll just have to find a different sound card interface that is truly plug and play.
