Troubleshooting FT-817 connection

I’m having trouble connecting my FT-817 to my Laptop running windows 11. I have the com port number and have downloaded and installed the drivers, but I am getting these messages when doing the test connection.

Any ideas on what to do next?

That’s frustrating. I would use Task Manager to check for other WSJT-X processes or any other processes which might be using the COM port.

I’d start with rebooting the computer. It looks like you have too many copies of WSJT-X running. That can also lock up the COM port.

I see this on occasion. It means I fat-fingered the mouse when trying to get wsjt-x to run, usually when I’m (always!) in a hurry. And yes, I swear I didn’t double-triple-quadruple click the mouse, but clearly…
