I have a TX-500 & PA500. I see that the PA500 doesn’t need a control cable (uses RF-VOX and auto band-detect), but has a port for one. I got the digirig splitter cable, and was hoping to switch the PA500 to use computer-controlled PTT. Since digirig sells the splitter cable, I was expecting some discussion about the installation, configuration and use of this cable, but so far haven’t found any. Does anyone here use this combo and have any suggestions?
A bit more context: my radio / amp are working with the digirig mobile and WSJT-X, Winlink Vara and VarAC, both with and without the splitter cable. However sometimes the PA500 decides to transmit for a brief moment even though the TX-500 is not transmitting. I am hoping to address this issue with the cable (manual PTT?), or at least learn what the splitter cable is supposed to do.
