I recently purchased a Digrig to use for a field kit with my UV-5R mini. What I found was that I was not able to get the PTT to function. What I eventually found is the Mini has a recessed opening for the speaker microphone connection that would not allow the connector to fully mate with the radio.
Using a utility knife, I was able to trim the connector to fit the opening. This allowed the cable to fully mate with the radio. It fixed the problem.
If you are using a UV-5R Mini, you may need to trim the cable to fit.
