Xiegu G90 - Logic Levels or CI-V for CAT control?

I purchased a Digirig Mobile, along with a cable for connecting it to my ICOM IC-208H. All worked great. Now I want to use it with my Xiegu G90 instead.

When I purchased the Digirig Mobile, I purchased the model with “Logic Levels”. It states on the Digirig Store that this is the default configuration and should be used for “Yaesu FT-8xx, Xiegu, HTs or any radio without CAT support”. According to what I have read, the Xiegu G90 has CAT support and uses the CI-V protocol.

So, should I be using “Logic Levels” which states it works with Xiegus or should I adjust the Digirig Mobile, by adding some solder, to use CI-V?

Xiegu G90 using CI-V port is not correct. The confusion may be stemming from the fact that originally G90 used ICOM’s transceiver profile (command set) for CAT control. The physical connection was always separate TX/RX serial lines with 3.3V logic levels.

Anyway, you can use your unmodified Digirig Mobile in logic levels configuration with your Xiegu G90 by just adding the correct cables.

If using logic levels, how do you select the “rig profile” when using various radio control software? It seems they all expect some rig designation via a popup menu.

If Xiegu G90 is not listed you can select ICOM IC-756 PRO which Xiegu “used as inspiration”.

Denis,

Thank you.
I’ve seen that IC-756 suggestion before. Unfortunately, there’s also
posts recommending the IC-7000, but there’s no reference to the G90
firmware version. I think the IC-756 recomendation is “the latest”. I’m
glad it’s your recommedation too.

When I go kayaking, I look at weather predictions sources. I try to get
at least three and hope two of them agree. Seaching for information on
the Web is sorta like that.

Below is a screen shot of the blank page I see when I click the
reference link.
Using FireFox, I can view the source code behind the page. It looks like
that page makes use of Java Script. I thought that was the problem, but
the page is blank using the PC as well.

I don’t use Chrome, but I use Brave on the Mac - which has the same
underpinnings.
Because it doesn’t come on four different browsers (Safari, FireFox,
Brave, Opera) on the Mac and nor on FireFox on the PC, something “up the
chain” might be cutting it off. All the other links render just fine.
Puzzling - but not critical. Other fish to fry.
