I’ve got a 747GX that I’m able to use CAT control with in WSJT-X and JS8Call using my Digirig, but rig control in FLDigi is unreliable and FLRig won’t communicate with the transceiver at all. Not sure if it’s related, but I also can’t get rig control to work through CubicSDR. I’m running DragonOS. Has anyone experienced this issue?
Are you using FlDigi raw or through FlRig?
Make sure you match the port configuration that works for WSJT-X, check that you are not running multiple apps concurrently, try different settings not available in WSJT-X like retry/timeouts.
WSJT-X and JS8Call are working raw FLDigi sort of works raw. FLRig not at all.
I have mimic’d settings from WSJT-X and FLDigi in FLRig, no luck.
Can you give me any suggestions as to how to mess with the other settings (retries, timeout, etc)?
These are the settings I refer to:
I would also try different versions of FlRig. Some reported to just not work right.
Thanks, I’m just not sure how those may or may not affect the situation, and I don’t want to just try changing things randomly.
I will try different flrig versions, I’ve tried 1.4.something and now the newest version, I will have to try some inbetween.
Thanks
You’ll not going to break thing by trying different values. Just take note of where you start so you can rollback.
Well I’ve tried messing with those settings (even got some confirmed-working settings for this radio from a user on groups.io), tried installing the latest flrig on tiny10 (a stripped-down windows 10) as well as an actual installation of windows 11. No luck. This makes me think the issue is with the digirig setup, but I believe others use their digirig with flrig and I have no issues with JS8Call or WSJT-X.
Any other thoughts?
Edit: the tiny10 installation was on the same computer I had been trying with linux, the windows 11 installation was on a different computer.
I don’t own 747GX so can’t test the settings. Let’s look at the error messages you get in flrig/fldigi when trying to use serial CAT control.
Here are some logs from FLRig when I try to make the CAT connection.
A user on another forum suggested that maybe the default logic levels configuration on the digirig could be the problem. What are your thoughts on the? Seems unlikely since it works in other software.

pretty nice page to sort out which yaesu needs what to ‘remote control’
looks like the 747 may not be completely compatible with ttl ?
good luck

Can that be true, if I’m able to use WSJT-X and JS8Call without issue?
I took a closer look at that page and the note at the bottom says a 1.2k-1.5k resistor between the SO signal and ground will enable operation. I did this when I was first getting CAT control to work, I used a 2k resistor.
you’re right, it does muddy the waters a bit.
if i’m not mistaken, which is very possible, flrig and wsjt-x use different ‘remote control’ libraries.
i haven’t used flrig in ages but i remember there being a lot more ‘tweaking’ options for the rig control as opposed to wsjt-x where it’s N81 and drive on
good luck
