Yaesu FT5D, digirig lite, Samsung S23, APRSdroid

I have had massive problems with APRSdroid and the Mobilinkd TNC in the past when trying to use it with APRSdroid (BT conflict and socket error), so I bought a Yaesu FT5DE so I could have some APRS capability, however, I find it a little clunky when sending messages.

So I thought the Digirig Lite would be a good option. The cable for the FT5DE came today, but no success, I’m afraid.

I made sure that I had the HT’s APRS modem turned off, but APRS droid says there is a USB error? I actually want to use this with Yaesu FT-818 but I can find a cable for the Digirig lite to go with the 818.

You will need to adjust the configuration of APRSdroid from TNC to soundcard.

The issue at the moment is if I plug the cable into the radio, even when it’s not connected to the phone, the radio keys up even when the phone is connected. APRS droid will start tracking like it’s meant to be, but the radio is constantly keyed up.

Does the radio key up if you plug the connector on the HT’s end (angled), but not on Digirig’s end (straight)?

Yes I have swapped them around and the angled one is now not at the HT end and it has cured that problem, now to sort the radio not keying up, I can hear the APRS squawk but its not generating a signal, the media volume is up past the 70 mark, weird thing is if I turn the squelch right down then the radio gets a lot of interference both in volume and signal strength that wasn’t there, not sure what that is about.

The angled connector is for the HT side. If that causes the problem, please check the connections in the cable against the schematic published in the product page.
