I just received the Digirig Mobile RS-232 and the Yaesu FTM MiniDin10 9600 baud+PTT+serial cable. The setup can PTT the radio (when VARA FM PTT is set to COM) but I have not figured out how get Winlink to change the radio frequency when PTT is set to CAT.
Also, are there any directions to setup the audio levels with this combination of hardware? I have looked through the forums without success. Thanks, Ron
winlink express doesn’t support vhf/uhf radio frequency control.
most states have a coordination suggestion for packet frequencies.
less than a handful of frequencies and from a home station perspective, rarely more than two are within range.
that and the very few vhf/uhf FM radios that actually have a ‘remote control’ implementation led the winlink team to not code in ‘CAT/CI-V’ control.
(my IC-821h has CI-V control but must still be tuned by hand. .030 and .050 are the only frequencies i can reach a gateway on. even at 70’ with a 3 element yagi)
lastly, i didn’t think the yaesu fm mobiles had CAT/remote control.
just the serial for programming the radio (like memories, not ‘spinnning’ the vfo)
i know some of the upper end icoms have ci-v now though.
sorry i’m not much help but the troubleshooting guides on the homepage could help with videos on the audio level adjusting.
I think I have most everything working! I have a SignalLink and Digirig both working. Now I know that unfortunately there is no frequency CAT control on my Yaesu FTM400 and Kenwood TM-V71. However, the Yaesu PTT works using the Digirig COM port, or using VOX on the SignalLink. Getting the right combination took a little time.
I would appreciate your document for comparison and reference. Hope this helps the next person. Ron, rs500cat@icloud.com and K2RAS on QRZ. Thanks again.
