I was unable to find a previous thread, (so forgive me if this is an answered/addressed topic) but what would prohibit the DigirigMobile from acting as an analog FM interface to say an ICOM 2m/70cm mobile what has CI-V?
If at all possible it has probably already been done using digital modes interfaces that preceded Digirig. I would look for similar project using Signalink (although it doesn’t have CI-V support), Rigblaster and such.
QSL & TNX. Trying not to re-invent the wheel here if somebody has already done prior with the Digirig Mobile. It’s a VERY nice design. I like it. Well done!
I must admit, I picked a different more traditional path and found a used Shari-Pi Allstar duplex VHF node for analog. The Digi became part of our VHF Contest Group (W2SZ/1) collection of interfaces for FT8 or other true digital mode interfaces as we’re on 6m through 10GHz in the ARRL VHF Contests and some of our Signal Link boxes were showing their age.
I also admit: After being a ham for 48yrs now, the good & the bad are the same: So many modes and ways to be QRV on a band and so many digital modes are coming along that I find too many ways to be on all the bands 2200m thru 275GHz that we have “almost” too many ways to communicate. BUT……the hobby never gets old for me. (says the guy who received the very 1st ever Worked All Bands Award back in 2003. See my QRZ.com page for a few details. At last year’s Microwave Update I was honored to be the guy to hand-out WAB #2 & #3 to KT1J & N1JEZ after we had an exclusive Vermonter’s Only mmWave QSO Rally which Paul, W1GHZ wrote-up in his Micro-wavelengths Column in QST in the spring of 2023. So 20yrs later for duplication of working all bands efforts. Yeah….I’m a geek’s geek)
