I just got the new DigiRig Lite. It works great on my laptop PC with a Baofeng UV-5R. When I plug it into my Google Pixel 8 Pro and use WoAD I cannot get the DigiRig Lite to transmit. It’s almost like the Pixel 8 Pro isn’t recognizing the audio device. When I try to use WoAD the audio comes out of the phone speakers and no red PTT light. The green light is on when plugged in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Yes, the media sounds also play over the Pixel 8 Pro internal speakers. I can hear either the packet bursts or tone to PTT but none of it appears to go through the DR Lite.
My DigiRig Mobile works with my Pixel 8 Pro. I plug it into my phone with a USB C cable, it gets detected, and any audio that is playing on my phone stops. I am able to do both WoAD and APRSDroid with the DigiRig Mobile so I know the phone can work with external sound device. When I plug in the DigiRig Lite the green PWR light comes on but audio continues playing and neither WoAD or APRSDroid can access the device. I’m really hoping that there is a fix for this. Any other thoughts?
I can swap your Digirig Lite unit in case this issue is specific to the unit you received. PM for arrangements. The codec is the same between Digirig Mobile and Digirig Lite.
It’s weird because I can plug the DR Lite into my computer and it works great. I have been racking my brain as to what setting in my phone may be causing the problem since the DR Mobile works fine. I’m hoping someone else may chime in with something to try with the Pixel 8 Pro. I will also try a different phone to see if it may just be mine. I will also PM you about swapping out the unit.
I tried the DR Lite on a Samsung phone and it was recognized as an audio device. In doing some research on the Pixel 8 Pro, I found out it doesn’t have an internal DAC and it doesn’t seem to be recognizing the DAC in the DR Lite. This is super disappointing as I really like the phone.
After back and forth with Dennis we have figured out the issue is with the Google Pixel 8 Pro phone. I tried it on two Pixel 8 phones without success. For some reason it is not recognizing the device correctly. I have verified on several Samsung phone models and my windows PCs that my DigiRig Lite works great. So if you have a Google Pixel 8 Pro beware the DigiRig Lite won’t be recognized. If that changes in the future I will update this post.
Sean, I’ve had the same issue with my Samsung S24 Ultra.
My full size DigiRig’s have no problem with the phone, works great and use it every week.
The DigiRig lite works fine with my Samsung S9 tablet. Can not get it to work with the phone. I’am going to factory reset my phone when I work up the nerve!
I have this problem too. But I found when I use the USBC hub it works perfectly. The SSTV app is fine but APRSdroid dones’t work. May be wrong app configuration?
My connection should be:
(My Google Pixel 8) ↔ (USBC hub) ↔ (C to A adapter come with DL) ↔ (DigiRig Lite) ↔ (HT)
Works great on my Mac too. Just plug into my Mac USBC port. No hubs, adapters needed. Select DigiRig in sound output/input settings. Open PocketPacket app. Sweet.

I finally worked up the nerve to factory reset my phone! Once it finally reset, I only loaded the WoAD app. I setup the session for a GPI PTT. It does the same thing as your Pixel 8 Pro even after factory reset. It is so strange, as my Samsung S9 tablet works perfectly fine with the DigiRig Lite. I’m finally done with it!
I can confirm that using a USB hub attached to the Pixel 8 Pro and then plugging the DigiRig Lite into the hub works for WoAD! It’s not the most ideal setup but it does get the job done. I was able to receive and send Winlink messages successfully to a local gateway.
