Need Help: Digirig Setup with Yaesu FT-991A for Digital Modes!

Hi everyone,

I am fairly new to digital modes and just got my hands on a Digirig Mobile interface. I am trying to set it up with my Yaesu FT-991A…, primarily for FT8 and Winlink, but I am a bit stuck on the configuration part.

I have installed the drivers and can see the serial ports. I am using WSJT-X…, but I am not sure about the exact rig settings, audio configuration, and whether I need a specific cable or adapter for full CAT and audio control.

Can anyone here share their working setup or maybe a step-by-step guide that worked for them using this combo: ??

I would appreciate any insight, especially from those who’ve successfully used Digirig with the 991A. I have also gone through this thread https://forum.digirig.net/t/setting-up-digirig-with-yaesu-ft-991a-for-ft8-sap-fico-course-in-kolkata but still need some more help.

Thanks in advance !!

With Regards,
Marcelo

I do not own your radio, but there are more discussion threads here:

Marcelo,
Welcome to digital modes. Before you go with the Digirig route, try using your Yaesu’s internal digital modes interface by connecting radio directly to the computer with a USB-B cable. You’ll find numerous videos on FT8 setup with FT-991A.

on the 991, keep in mind that the internal soundcard will surpress a lot of the subcarriers on the OFDM, the data port in the back jumps over the filtering premods and all the above… this is why people want to use the data port with an external sound card at 9600, Now to be honest I feel like there is no digirig cable for that data port , or the 6 pin that is out there is configured wrong, I will get to it, but shame there is ZERO docs on this… KO6IKR
