I cannot get the rig control to work on my 850S and WSJT-X. I can control the radio with DXLabs Commander and a USB serial cable but not through the digirig and it’s cable.
I don’t have your radio, but I do not want your question to go too long without an answer.
Thanks for posting the screen shot of the config and the error message. Have you installed the driver for the Silicon Labs CP210x? Does COM8 correspond to the USB serial port for the Digirig?

Yes the audio works through it but rig control does not. I have the TS450 cable set.
With the Digirig, even though the audio works, there may still be a problem with the USB serial port. Have you confirmed that the driver is installed and the port you are using corresponds to the Digirig?

Yes
if you changed the port # in the device manager, it can take a reboot for it to be available. (changed the # from whatever windows assigned it at first to something else)
irritates me to no end.
otherwise, you have everything set the way i would.
NEVERMIND:
the 850s requires rts/dtr for remote control i think.
the digirig doesn’t supply rts/dtr on the remote control cable.
rts is ‘peeled’ off for ptt functions.
that might be the issue
good luck

OK, looks good. Here is a thread which discusses the TS-850 issues for CAT control and RTS for PTT:

here is a link:

i linked, rather than copy paste.
they did the writeup, let them get the credit.
anyway,
back in the days of serial terminals, we would trick the the rts/dtr lines for one reason or another.
the above link, about halfway down, describes doing this with a comport splitter.
the takeaway is, get in between the radio and the NON rts/dtr capable remote control, and tie the rts and dtr lines together.
this will tell the radio’s serial processor that everybody is read to send and receive ALL the time.
ham radio is homebrew radio

This would have been nice to know a few months ago.
I have a USB to Cat cable that I’m using with DX Commander. It works with can be finnicky at times.
I have not been able to get it to work directly from wsjt.

According to this the Kenwood Acc-1 is TTL 3v
This shows that its configured for RS-232 12v
This does not look right.
DIN6 cable in Kenwood TS-450/TS-850 kit in fact has hardware flow control CTS/RTS loopback implemented, but that may not be enough of the workaround.
@N5WJS, what is the serial USB adapter you are currently using with this radio? Do you know the name/model?
No numbers on it but I ordered the ts 450 cable.
t-3 good
r1-2 good
4&5 good

I moved the jumpers audio worked but serial still did not. Different errors though, more protocol errors vs timeouts.
Do you mean that the sleeve on the Digirig side doesn’t have any connections on the DIN6 side? That’s not right, please PM me if that’s the case and I’ll arrange a replacement.
