Hello, I have a USDX device, I am trying to make a cat cable for FT8, but I could not do it.
I have a rs 232 usb ttl device
There is a 3.5mm jack I don’t quite understand how to connect these. I wonder if you can draw and explain from the photos I sent you. Do I need to use the front or rear outputs of the 3rd device?
yes, CAT control is the ‘back’ connection on the bottom marked CAT.
that female connection has 4 conductors, 1 is a PTT that can be used to trigger an amp or assert ptt itself.
so you need TIP, RING 1, and sleeve
skip RING 2
you may have to swap tip and ring 1 to make it work but sleeve is definitely GROUND
for my rig, i used TS-480 and 38400 bps, and CAT control was pretty solid.
(radio gets hot a little too quick for my uses so it doesn’t get used much)
The connections for this radio are challenging, but some people have gotten it to work. There is a thread about this radio, called “white button uSDX” by their community.
