WSJT-X Only Displays Vertical Line (IC-7000)

I bought a CI-V Digirig Mobile a while back and only recently tried WSJT-X. I’m facing difficulties in trying to make my ICOM IC-7000 work with it, mainly because WSJT-X only displays vertical line, similar to this issue.

Key details:

  • Running on Linux
  • Both the UART bridge and USB audio device are listed correctly in lsusb
  • CAT control and PTT work correctly
  • Tried both the 13-pin 1200 baud and 6-pin 9600 baud audio cable, both have the same result
  • Unlike the previously mentioned issue, my issue is not intermittent; the vertical line is displayed everytime I use WSJT-X

Is there any known Linux driver issue that might cause this? Or did I receive a faulty unit?

Any help is appreciated!

Try it on Windows. If the issue stays with Linux then this could be a software configuration there. If it follows Digirig then it may need attention.

Just tried it on Windows. It has the same behavior, but interestingly it makes different lines.

What could be the reason?

The audio code is likely damaged. Please reach out through the support link to arrange service for your Digirig.

Thank you for the advice! I just filled the contact form.

Exact same thing happened to me. Put ferrites on your USB cable

Thanks for the suggestion! I did try it with a shorter USB cable in the hope of avoiding potential noise, I’ll try it if for some reason it isn’t fixed after the service.

Good luck. It’s more important than you may think. I thought mine was jacked up and wrapped a ferrite on a plain USB as a last resort I have since gotten one of these

Heading up to Payson AZ as Scout Camp comissioner in 2 weeks. Want to take up my IC-7000 for HF work on digital modes. Anyone have a good drawing of components needed. Linux hacker since 90’s so planning on raspberry PI solution with DigiRig.

Already got the shielded USB cable in my amazon cart. will order the rest this week.

For your ICOM you’ll need:

Just received the new unit and it does not have line issues anymore. Thank you for the excellent service!

I also tried comparing it by using ferrite-wrapped USB cable and so far it seem to perform equally well compared to a regular cable. However, just to be safe, I’ll keep using the ferrite-wrapped USB cable for now.
